Where and when are the church's services?

Our  services are in our church building at 195 Signal road, just behind the Thickwood Safeway Store. Click here for directions and a map.
We have a service every Sunday morning at 10:00AM. Our service is usual the Holy Eucharist from the Canadian Anglican Book of Alternative Services. Nominal Anglicans would understand what that means. The rest of you need not be concerned because the service is shown on the overhead as it progresses. We have a Communion service on Wednesday evening at 6:30PM, which usually includes a bible study period.

What should I wear?

Feel free to wear whatever clothes make you feel most comfortable.
We care more that you’re here, than what you wear.

How long are your services?

Well, that depends. Our services are usually slightly less than two hours..

What are your services like?

Our services focus mostly on worship and preaching. We follow the services as found in the Canadian Anglican Book of Alternative Services although the service is shown on our overhead projector. Our music is contemporary. We'll share some announcements at the end of the services, express our hearts to God through music, and hear a teaching about God’s word.

If you need personal prayer, our prayer counselors  are there for you during the service.

There is usually fellowship and lunch in the basement hall after the service. Feel free to grab a cup of coffee and have some conversation with people you just met during the service.

Will I have to say anything, sign anything, or be singled out?

Rest assured that you won't be put on the spot, singled-out, or embarrassed. Though we do receive an offering, we don't want anyone to feel obligated to give. In fact, we do not pass an offering plate but leave it at the entrance to the Nave.  We do like to collect some basic information from people in our guest registry, but if you'd prefer not to, that's all right with us.

What about my kids?

Children are welcomed in our services. There usually are Sunday School classes for the children. For toddlers, the is a nursery available

What kind of church are you?

St. Thomas is an Anglican Church, which is steeped in tradition. We are a liturgical church so our services do resemble those in Catholic churches. We are evangelical and our music is contemporary but our beliefs are quite traditional.

While there are two Anglican churches in Fort McMurray, there are no parish boundaries per se and people form all over the city attend either church.

St. Thomas is a resource church for Alpha Ministries Canada. We have been holding Alpha courses since 1996.
We cooperate with other churches in Fort McMurray and often share resources, etc. when the Alpha courses are being held.

Most importantly, St. Thomas is a safe place for people who are looking for answers to their spiritual questions. It's also a place where those who have decided to follow Jesus Christ can learn and be encouraged in their spiritual growth.
