Our Mission and Vision
Vision:
Rooted in Christ, Reaching the World
With principles, beliefs and practices based in the inherent truth of
God’s word in the Bible, St. Thomas' Church seeks to effectively
minister to “Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria & the uttermost parts” (Acts
1:8). Our “Judea” is our immediate community in Fort McMurray. “Samaria”
is a step larger, our surrounding area in Northern Alberta (the Diocese
of Athabasca) and nation. We reach “the uttermost parts” by the nation-
and world-wide missions with whom we’re partners.
Mission:
...To be disciples and make disciples
Action:
We’ve adopted the Alpha Course to reach the uncommitted and bring other
Christians into a closer relationship with God. We strive to life up to
The Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-39) and The Great Commission
(Matthew 28:19,20), and in the process, we seek to become a balanced,
healthy church.
Matthew 22:37-39
Jesus said to him, " 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your
heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' 38 "This is the
first and great commandment. 39 "And the second is like it: 'You shall
love your neighbor as yourself."
Matthew 28:19-20
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in
the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20
"teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo,
I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
